Today is father’s day in Argentina as well, although I’ve been told that this holiday is overshadowed by mother’s day, which occurs in October here. Nevertheless, I have seen many advertisements on store windows and in commercials promoting various sales, specials, and presents for that special father in your life.
That being said, I’d like to acknowledge a certain special father in my own life, and recognize how lucky I am that he’s there. I’m very sorry that I’m not at home today to tell him this in person, but perhaps ironically, I can’t be there because I’m here, in Buenos Aires, on an adventure that wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for my dad. Nor would I be able to attend my wonderful college, or be interested in politics and the great big world out there, or be any of the things that make me me.
Dad, I know you’ll see this because you’re probably the only one who has actually subscribed to this blog, so thank you being the wonderful father that you have been and will always continue to be and for giving me the best possible 19 1/2 years of life.
P.S. — we passed a very nice patagonian chocolate shop yesterday, so prepare for a very scrumptious combined father’s day/birthday present when I get back!
P.P.S — mom, I love you too 🙂
